FontKit support
Turns letters written by hand or drawn with a finger into a .ttf and .otf font, on iPhone and iPad: no account, no network.
What is FontKit
With FontKit you write the alphabet on a sheet of paper and photograph it, or draw the letters with your finger on the screen. The app finds every letter, lets you clean it up and adjust it, and turns it into a font with your handwriting, in two files: .ttf and .otf.
Everything happens on your iPhone or iPad: no sign-up, no internet connection, no data collected.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install the font?
Export the .ttf and .otf files, which contain the same font. On a Mac open the file and choose Install; on Windows right-click and Install. On iPhone and iPad you import it into apps that accept font files, such as many drawing and design apps. Some cutting programs prefer the .otf.
Why doesn't the font show up in every app on my iPhone?
On iPhone and iPad FontKit does not install the font system-wide and is not a keyboard: the font works in apps that import font files.
Where are the files I exported?
In the Files app, under On My iPhone (or On My iPad) › FontKit › Exported Fonts. You can also share them straight away from the share sheet when you export.
How do I prepare the sheet so the letters come out well?
Use white paper and a dark marker, and leave a finger's width between characters. Photograph the sheet straight and in even light, or use the document scanner. With a thin pen, or a shadow on the paper, the letters need more cleaning up.
A letter came out crooked or smudged: what do I do?
Tap it to open its editor: you can crop it, retouch or erase the ink with brush and eraser, adjust the sensitivity, straighten it and set its size and height on the guide lines. Or pick another one from the sheet, photograph it again or redraw it with your finger.
Which languages and alphabets does it cover?
Only the Latin alphabet. From the accents, FontKit builds the accented letters of Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch by itself. Letters such as å, ø, ł, č or ş are not included, and neither are Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese or Korean.
Do I need an internet connection or an account?
No. FontKit works entirely offline and does not ask you to sign up.
Why does the app ask for the camera?
Only when you choose to photograph a letter or a sheet. If you would rather not allow it, you can pick a photo from your library or draw the letters with your finger.
