Privacy
Privacy policy for FontKit
Turns letters written by hand or drawn with a finger into a .ttf and .otf font, on iPhone and iPad: no account, no network.
This is a translation of the informativa privacy in Italian; if the two differ, the Italian version prevails.
No data collected
FontKit does not collect any personal data: it does not record, store with me or transmit anything you do in the app. There are no accounts and no sign-up: you use the app without giving your name, email or anything else.
No network connection
There is no code in the app that connects to the internet: it does not contact any server, mine or anyone else's. Photos, drawings and fonts are not uploaded anywhere.
Recognizing the characters on the sheet and building the font also happen on the device, with the features of iOS.
No analytics, tracking or ads
FontKit contains no analytics or tracking tools, shows no ads and includes no third-party SDKs.
Camera and photos
If you choose to photograph a letter or a sheet, iOS asks for permission to use the camera: it is used only to take that photo, which stays in the app. You can also refuse and use a photo from your library, or draw the letters with your finger.
To pick a photo the app uses the iOS system picker, which hands it only the image you choose: the app does not read your Photos library and saves nothing to it.
What stays on your device
Your fonts, the photos of the sheets, the letters you draw and your preferences (such as the app's style) are kept only on your device, in the app's local storage. The app does not sync them with iCloud; like other app data, they may be included in your device backup, if you have turned it on.
Deleting a font in the app also deletes its letters and sheets. Everything is erased when you uninstall the app.
Exported files
When you export, the two font files (.ttf and .otf) are written to the app's folder that you see in Files › On My iPhone › FontKit › Exported Fonts (on iPad, On My iPad). They stay there even if you delete the font in the app: you delete them from Files, or by uninstalling the app.
A file leaves the app only when you decide, through the iOS share sheet. You choose where it goes, and from there the privacy policy of the app or service you chose applies.
Other people's handwriting
If someone else writes the sheet, the font will have their handwriting: do it with their consent.
App Store and Apple
Downloads and updates go through the App Store, run by Apple under its own privacy policy. The device analytics that iOS may send to Apple depend on your settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements), not on the app.
Data controller and contact
The data controller is Angelo Sasso, who develops the app. For any question about this policy, write to ciao@angelosasso.it.
You keep the rights granted by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
This policy covers only the app. For the angelosasso.it website, the website privacy policy applies.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with the updated date. For help with the app, see the support page.
