Privacy notice
This is a translation of the Informativa privacy; if the two differ, the Italian version prevails.
Who processes the data
The data controller is Angelo Sasso, who you can contact at ciao@angelosasso.it.
Cookies
For visitors, this website uses no cookies, neither its own nor third-party ones, and loads no scripts, fonts or content from other services. That is why you see no consent banner.
Only people who sign in to the site's management area (the controller and the people he authorizes) receive two technical cookies: one for the work session, valid only on the address of the management area, and one used to not count their visits in the statistics.
The site reads the preferred language set in your browser only to suggest the English version of a page; it does not record it. The language of a page depends only on its address (/en/… is English).
Contact form
If you write to me through the form, I collect your name, email, phone (if you give it), the service you are interested in, who or what you need it for, the timing you would like, the text of your message (if you write one) and the language of the page you used. I use them only to reply to your request and, if you wish, to prepare a quote: the legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Messages are stored on the website's server and in my mailbox for as long as needed to handle the request and any work that follows. They are not shared with anyone or used to send you advertising.
To protect the form from automated submissions, the server keeps for one hour an encrypted fingerprint of the network you write from, not your IP address.
Visit statistics
The site counts page views to learn which services interest people most. It uses no cookies or external services: to tell visits apart it records an encrypted, irreversible fingerprint that changes every day and cannot be traced back to your IP address or to you. Together with the fingerprint it records the page, the time, the type of device (computer, tablet or phone), the type of program (a browser or a search engine, for example) and the name of the site you came from, if external.
To tell people from automated programs, the page sends a short signal when you interact with it (scroll, tap, click or use the keyboard) and, while you read it, the number of seconds it has stayed in the foreground. The signal contains only the page address and those seconds.
This data is kept for 400 days. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
3D model search
If you use the 3D model search, the words you type are sent by the website's server to Sketchfab (an archive of 3D models) to get the results: the request comes from the server, so Sketchfab does not receive your IP address or any other data about you. The results of each search stay in memory on the server for 24 hours, with nothing that identifies you. The words you type in the tutorial search, instead, never leave the server and are not saved.
Links to the models and to the other archives (Printables, MakerWorld, Thingiverse and others) take you to their websites, which have their own privacy rules.
Server logs
Like every web server, the one hosting the site records the requests it receives for security reasons, with IP address, date and requested page. These logs are rotated automatically and kept for a limited time. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in protecting the site (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Management area
The site's management area keeps a security log of sign-ins and operations: who signs in or tries to, with what outcome, what they change, from which IP address and with which kind of browser (for example "Safari on iPhone"). It concerns people who use that area, including anyone who tries to access it without authorization; visitors to the site do not appear in it. Passwords and access codes are never recorded. The log is kept for 13 months on the website's server and is used to detect and reconstruct unauthorized access: the legal basis is the legitimate interest in protecting the site and the data it contains (Art. 6(1)(f)).
When an authorized person chooses a password, the server checks that it does not appear among those already stolen from other sites by sending the Have I Been Pwned service only the first 5 characters of an encrypted fingerprint of the password: neither the password nor the full fingerprint leaves the server.
Where the data is
The site is hosted on an OVHcloud server located in the European Union.
Your rights
You can ask at any time to see, correct or delete your data, or to restrict its use, by writing to ciao@angelosasso.it. If you believe your data is being processed improperly, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
